Volume of a Cube

INTRODUCTION
  • A cube is a three-dimensional solid object with all 3 dimensions having the same length. It has six square faces. Cube is also called as regular hexahedron since it has eight equal edges..
  • Edge means intersection of two faces in a line. So cube has eight equal edges. Cube has eight vertices. The common point of more than two line segment is called vertices.

Problem of Volume of the cube

Formula for finding volume of the cube = a 3
Where, a = side length of the cube.
1) Locate the volume of a cube with the given side 7 m.
Solution:
Volume of cube = a³
= 7³
Volume of cube = 343 m3.
2) The side length of cube is 24 cm. Find the volume of the cube.
Solution:
Volume of the cube =a3.
a=24 cm.
= (24)3.
Volume of the cube =13824 cm3.
3) The side length of cube is 2 meters. Find the volume of the cube.
Solution:
Volume of the cube =a3.
a=2 meters.
= (2)3.
Volume of the cube =8 m3.
4) The side length of cube is 50 meters. Find the volume of the cube.
Solution
Volume of the cube =a3.
a = 50 meters.
= (50)3.
Volume of the cube =125000 m3.
5) The side length of cube is 32 meters. Find the volume of the cube.
Solution:
Volume of the cube =a3.
a = 32 meters.
= (32)3.
Volume of the cube =32768 m3.
6) Find the volume of a cube whose edge measures 120 cm.
Solution:
Given:
a = 120 cm
Formula:
Volume of the cube, V = a3 cubic units
= 120 x 120 x 120
=1728000
Volume of the cube = 1728000 cm3.
