Topic:-Speed and distance
We can find the distance in between two end points ,if we have the speed of a vehicle .
Let's see an example word problem ,which explains it in more detail...
Question:-
It takes a passenger train two hours less time than it takes a freight train to make the trip from central city to clear crek .The passenger train averages 96 km/h while the freight train average 64 km/h.How far is it from central city to clear creek?
Answer:-
Let's assume that
Passenger train : x
Freight train : x+2 hrs
distance=speed * Time
Distance = 96 * x -->Passenger
Distance = 64(x+2)---->freight
Both the distances are same
So 96*x=64(x+2)
96x=64x+128
96x-64x=128
32x=128
x=4 hrs
So the distance will be 384 km
